I think getting married in your home state ensures that friends and family can easily afford to attend your big day. On the other hand if your friends and family live away or if you hate your friends and family, then it might be wise to marry away.
its also a lot cheaper if no bugger attends also.

Where you get married at doesn't matter (except for Honeymoon memories). Where you live together after you get married is what matters.
