I don't think it happens with everyone, but I do think that a certain "type" is more likely to reappear consistantly more often than others, thereby leading to the idea that you have a "twin" living somewhere else.
For instance, I knew one guy years ago that could have doubled for Mel Gibson at his prime. Chronologically Mel was in his late 30's then, and this guy could have played Mel in his Mad Max persona.
My oldest full brother has always looked a LOT like Alex Trebec. Again, not in the same decade. My brother is about 15 years behind Alex, but you would think they were at least full brothers.

More than one. I'm constantly being told that I was seen somewhere I've never been. Once I was in a long line at the Airport and I was called to the front and taken care of by the Manager. Then she smiled and asked me if I really don't recognise her. She insisted that I was her best friend that she roomed with for four years in University. I never attended that University so it was a true case of mistaken identity. My older sister and I look so alike that even our parents mixed us up from afar. There was a girl at my High School who looked a lot like me -you could only tell the difference close up by looking for her freckles and a tiny mole on one side of her face. Then about Twelve years ago I ran into a woman that looked just like me. She could have been my twin-we even had the same hairstyle. I went straight to a hair salon and cut and dyed my hair-that was too freaky for words.
Another reason why I think there are people who look very similar to all of us is because when my son was just a toddler I walked out of a supermarket with my kids and I called out to him and held his hand and was walking away when an old woman came up to me and said we have the wrong kids. I looked down at her kid and saw that we both had similar looking kids. We had both grabbed the wrong kids hand and were walking away. (She was the Grandmother) After talking for a while we learned that they had been born on the same day at the same hospital within a few hours of each other and were even in the same nursery. My son is nothing like anyone in the Family. To this day I wonder if I even have the right child. Six years before my son was born, my Uncle and Aunt had been given the wrong baby by a Hospital and my Uncle insisted it was not his baby and checked the ankle tag and discovered that another couple had left the hospital with his baby. He had to wait a few weeks to get his baby back as that couple had gone to New York to visit the wife's Mother so she could help with the baby and spend time with the Baby. It was a good thing he had checked the tags as the other couple hadn't. What is to say this couldn't have happened to me also? I've heard of this happening before.

I do not if I do have someone or not but it is kind of eerie to think about.............
doppelganger
Meaning "double walker," a doppelganger is a shadow-self that accompanies every human. Only the owner of a doppelganger can see it, otherwise it is invisible to human eyes. Dogs and cats have been known to see doppelgangers. Providing sympathetic company, a doppelganger almost always stands behind a person, and they cast no reflection in a mirror. They are prepared to listen and give advice to humans, either implanting ideas in their heads, or a sort of osmosis. It is said to be bad luck if it is seen, and rarely a doppelganger will make itself visible to friends or family, often causing great confusion. Doppelgangers can be mischievous and malicious.

That's just a saying, I don't really believe everone has a double in this world. Logically thinking about this, if this were true, then hald the population of the world resembles the other half. Is this plausible to you?
