I am torn. Obviously this child will have a much better life than he would in a third-world orphange. But I find it unsettling when children are purchased like cattle by rich celebrities. Shades of Mommie Dearest, you know. What are your thoughts?

I know what you mean by the way you say cattle its like they are specially picked for them and asif its becomming some sort of trend to adopt an orphan which is crazy. It will be good for the little kid his life has changed dramtically but i hope he remembers his roots. It could be a publicity stunt could help her sell more albums and it could raise this issue in the limelight and maybe more people would adopt hopefully for the right reasons and not just because it might be cool.

I think its a double-edged sword. Its great for ANY child to be adopted whether by a celebrity or otherwise, but a celebrity can't do really anything without people questioning their true motives.
The bottom line is that child needed a home, and that child was LOOKING for a home. Its not like she went to someone's house and said, "I'll buy your kid." So, to say they are "purchased like cattle" is a bit harsh.
If I had that kind of money, I'd want to do everything I could to help the state of our planet, and perhaps adopting a child that needs a home would be one of them.

I keep hearing it is a rumor and false, but if it is true, Maybe the nanny will take good care of it.
