Oh Im from American and I absolutely believe we are fault for global warming.
You have to understand though here in denial land, corporations control politicians. So no bill to stem pollution will ever be passed that is worth anything.
It would simply not be cost effective for companies in america to make their companies pollute less. It is not cost effective to find alternatives for gas. It is not cost effective to build a better public transport system so people dont use cars all the time.
Untill we have a new system of government that will never change. It is written into our constitution that when our government is no l onger working we should tear it down and build a new one. That probably wont happen though, most americans like living in denial.

It's possible that "global warming" exists since there's a mean increase in temperature of about one degree every 100 years. Don't forget that it was called "global cooling" about 30 years ago and we only had 10 years to live then. Last I checked this planet was holding up pretty well. If you really think our activity on this planet can destroy it, you really are naive, and a bit arrogant as well. We can't even forecast rain with any real accuracy, or divert hurricanes. It's ridiculous to think we can destroy this planet. We're like tiny specks on this giant ball and we're at the mercy of mother nature, not the other way around. Read a science book and you'll understand it better.

As for "global warming/cooling", the real fact is that there is no proof whatsoever that either of these conditions are created by "green-house gasses" or that it is in any way related to anything man has done over the last few hundred years. In fact, if you look at weather conditions over the centuries you'll see that it is cyclic and our worst conditions occurred before man was industrialized.

It's true that the largest polluting countries are China and India at the moment. Sadly they say that the Taj Mahal is disintegrating because of pollution, but there's not a lot Americans can do about that.

Those two weren't going to be part of the Kyoto Treaty, but that turned out to be nonsense anyway, so neither Clinton nor Bush signed on to it. Gore's the only one who believes this garbage, but when you consider he stands to gain monitarily from "global warming" regulations, you understand his motives better.

In the US, the pollution levels have been steadily decreasing for the last 20 years, so we are doing our part, but this is not the case in other parts of the world.

I'm sorry that you are so ignorant on the subject and feel that you must blame the US for all the ills of the world. If it makes you feel better to lay blame then do it, but if you want to learn the real causes of problems, educate yourself so you won't appear so idiotic and uninformed when you post your questions on this forum.

Sorry to point this out to you, but the ONLY brainwashed puppet here is YOU! The United States is NOT the major contributor to Global Warming -- it is all the DIRTY FUELS being used (like in China and the developing countries whose populations are burgeoning and straining this planet), the countries that do NOT have controls on particulate emissions, the countries that engage in Ethnic Cleansing (like terrorism), the countries that dump their untreated sewage into the world's oceans and rivers (ever see the results of pollution testing on rivers in developing countries?), the unchecked slash/burn land acquisition of populations expanding at a rate that is unheard of in developing countries (where losses of Rain Forests due to these pushes for land is causing major ecological disasters in those regions), etc etc etc.

Although the greenhouse effect is one theory of global warming, you can not rule out nature. The tempurature of earth has been rising constantly since the last ice age. As I am majoring in geology, I have studied that earth's tempurature swings in cycles - ice ages to the opposite, and then back again. Therefore, people should concider this theory as well.

Again, yes, the greenhouse theory is plausible, but then again, so was Thomson's model of an atom being a " plum pudding- like substance".

Do I hear the jealous whining of yet another lowly foreigner who lives in some gimpy little country with all the standard of living of neanderthal man? Yes, I think I do. He knows his so-called 'country' will never catch up with mighty America so he wants Americans to buy into the phoney baloney "global warming" nonsense so we'll cut our own standard of living by reducing our "greenhouse emissions".
Go get yourself a life, foreign scum!
No we DON'T buy into "global warming"! And we will CONTINUE to blow our "greenhouse emissions" your way and there's nothing you can do about it because we're bigger and tougher than you. It's NICE being a Superpower! We Americans do so enjoy laughing at you funny little foreigners with all your jealousy and contempt for us simply because you KNOW we're better than you and we always will be.
Now just shut up and make sure your puny government does whatever we tell it to do. You are now dismissed.

No, they are in denial. But India and China will be the worst contributors should they ever approach our per-capita rates! Echo that in consumption of food and oil.
