While there are a number of folks who truly don't much notice or care, there is a persistent minority of hateful straight people and hateful, repressed homosexuals who find it necessary to constantly decry homosexuality like a school bully.

Some people are on a religious trip which amounts to a vocalization of self-superiority ("look at me, I have Jesus in my heart, I am better than everyone else!").

Some people, tragically, have been sexually abused by someone of the same sex. Although heterosexual abuse is more common because there are more heterosexuals, I can understand the anger.

The most normal response a straight person would have to gay people would be somewhere between mild fascination at bizarre/exotic behavior (to a heterosexual) to mild digust.

Straight people quite normally announce that they are straight.

You will probably have several people who say "I am not gay" or "I am straight" when they are discussing homosexuality.
Those same people don't need to say anything in other situations, because they are assumed to be straight. This is why gay people find it necessary to "act different" or announce that they are gay.

Sometimes it's not the question itself, but how it's worded. If you're mean and offensive in your question, you're going to get a mean answer.
Other times it's just the homophobes having a tantrum because you just mentioned the word "gay." Those people are pathetic though, I'd just ignore those answers.
Then again, it could be someone that just thinks the question is stupid and rather than just ignore it, of course, they feel need the need to post.
Also, you've also got to realize, the Internet is a haven for cruel people. They can go online, and say whatever they want, be as cruel as they please...and there are no consequences.

I think people just get a little too "sensitive" with the topic. I've seen a question where someone just simply asked how gay couple relationship work out and every answer was from a homosexual answering back in very negative responses to the questioner.Needless to say I just didn't leave a comment, I'm straight. Anyhow, it's like if you aren't outright talking positive about touchy issues, wheather it's personal issues, politics, etc. people who it pertains to automatically look at it as you being negative, towards them almost. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong, but that is how I see it.

Number 1) Most questions are guided by ignorance and written by idiots and are meant to be offensive

Number 2) This site is not really the proper forum for these issues

All unnecessary/offensive remarks are best kept away.

Either the question makes them nervous because they are ignorant, or it offends them because they don't want to face the truth about themselves, or they are just insensitive. It could also be the way the question is being asked.

I think you see more offended responses cuz those people are more apt to be outspoken about it because they disagree with it. I live in a very conservative area and I see more crap on here about it than I do in my hometown.

I'm surrounded by gay people in my family, friends, daily life. How a person wants to live their life is no matter to me. As long as they treat me and my family with respect, I'll treat them with respect in return.
