Yes it is true that if you skip the last 7 reminder pills and start a new pack you will skip your period, but you have to be on a monophasic pill. Monophasic pills have the same amount of hormones in them for the entire cycle.....other pills like OrthoTri-Cyclen have different levels of hormones for different weeks and you can't use those to skip a period. If you don't know for sure call your doctor and ask. You may spot from doing this though. I've done it and had no problem with it, in fact I'm now on Seasonale which keeps you from having a period for 3 months. Good luck.

Never works out right, does it? lol

It depends on the type of pills you take, but if you take the same pill three weeks in a row and then "sugar" pills (inactive) the last week (when you start your period) then it's fine... and hopefully you won't breakthrough and have your period.

If, however, you take triphasics (pills are different colors each week) this probably will NOT work and you may risk pregnancy.

Check with your doc who prescribes your pills to be sure... and explain your situation. They can be very helpful at times :)

I think you actually can just continue your next pill pack and skip your period. I've heard of women doing this before. You might still have some spotting, or you might get your period anyway (it's called breakthrough bleeding).

You should consider just going ahead and letting your body menstruate this week so that you'll know you won't have to worry about it at your wedding.

I wanted to skip my period once, all I did was skip the seven blue pills and go right to the next pack. People can be so cruel when u ask a question like this. The first time I did they ask if I was 7 so cold. Ask ur doctor if u have any more questions but skipping them blue ones should be ok. Good luck on ur wedding.

Your sister is right.

A lot of women take birth-control pills continuously to avoid thier period. This is especially convenient when planning around events and vacations.

That is absolutely not true. The last 7 pills are just sugar pills. There are no hormomnes in the last 7 pills. I was on the pill for like 5 years and asked my gyno about the last 7 pills because they are a different color than all the rest. He said "they are just sugar pills, and they're in the pack to help you remember to keep taking your pills. They're basically reminder pills, and you will still have your cycle."

Lady, quit messing with yourself! Nature made you as you are and your total self, all of the nerves, enzymes, organs, cells work as nature planned. The human body is a chemistry factory. You cannot put something in without huge consequences.
You cannot arbitrarily stop something without all kinds of negative effects. It may take years for the effect to manifest its self and by then it may be uglier than you think.

Why is breast cancer so prevalent? Could not nursing babies have something to do with it? Child birth puts all kinds of female chemistry into motion, then the mother ignores it. We do not know the body chemistry effect/results of interfering with nature, over time. Too, for every action there is a reaction.

You take birth control pills, (put chemistry into your body), to interfere with natures process, which produces all kinds of chemistry, to shut nature down. Nature takes that chemistry and create/do what with it? You partially shut down a event, but all the rest is processing and all bets are off on the over time end results.

You want to live long and healthy. Eat what nature provided, use you body as nature intended. Leave man made crap out.

i've done that before, it worked for me. but I'd use back-up birth control, condoms or have him pull-out... just to be safe.

Man, that sucks! I'd be so pissed if I got my period on my wedding day!

To stop your period I would recommend not eating. Cause if your anorexic it stops your period for some reason.

This is true! I'd let your ob/gyn know that you're doing it, but it should not be a problem. Happy wedding!
