My daughter has 2 map turtles and they have not eaten for 2 weeks, are they sick or are they hibernating? We just got them this summer so we are not sure what they do during the winter months. FYI we live in Canada

They do hibernate, and are triggered by both temps and light cycles.

You have to trick them into thinking it is still summer by offering warm temps and a long light cycle. If the light cycle is not make summer-like, then they will just 'sort of' hibernate and start to waste away.

You can hibernate them yourselves, but it is tricky for beginners.

i'm afraid it quite is ineffective. I had an identical journey whilst 2 of my turtles died in basic terms a pair of months lower back and that they regarded the comparable as your one. I stored them in a sprint field on their own for 2 days and considered one of them began to decay, if this occurs with yours, i could say the comparable. besides the reality that just to be on the risk-free ingredient, take the little creature to a vet to have it checked over. It won't do any harm. i did not know if mine have been ineffective the two because of the fact the different 2 have been nevertheless alive interior the tank. yet yeah, take the detrimental animal to a vet first, he can verify it out. As for those young toddlers working the animal under a faucet, warm or chilly, what the hell?! Turtles or any aquatic animal can not comply with the severe stages of chlorine in faucet water. additionally, take the different turtle to the vet aswell, he could have something incorrect with him too. in simple terms be optimistic. I wish you the appropriate of luck and need that possibly he could nevertheless be alive. yet another ingredient is, the turtle must be in extreme ask your self and could have slipped right into a deep sleep - have him examined.
