I am not a bible scholar but I am pretty sure that Jesus would not have promoted war as the solution to any problem yet we in America have political group like the hypocritical Christians for the War? What an oxymoron.

Austrian - This is merely enforcing my point - though shall not kill by command of the lord unless the lord commands you to kill hard to follow a religion based, baptised and practiced on hypocricy. Don't kill unless they look, sound, or live differently than it's f*#k em all let em die Logic?

Once again if you were to take every thing as literal as some people claim their is no justification to ignore the rules of god. Murder is bad but Hitler was a meany. yes Hitler needed to be stop but if you can have leway in that case why should I base any of my life on those rules, stealing is bad but what if I need to eat, cussing is bad but what if I'm really mad. Eventually all the rules are contradicted and made irrelevant.

You have a great point, and I agree with you. I judge people by their actions not their labels. I can say I am anything, but that doesn't make it true.

uhhh....u might want to check ur bible.....if u have one. God led(commanded) his people(israelites) to war on countless occasions. So what are you talking about. And what about the tribulation. God will instill great pain and suffering in the end times. God (in the bible) even commanded the Israelites to kill women and the children in 2 of the wars they faught.
When people stray so far from God and morality(like Saddam and his evil regime) War is sometimes the only answer.

So if a country was to attack us in any way; You pacifists answer is to talk to them. But not war. Thank God u arent leading us.

I dont think Jesus would have any prob with war. Read Revalations. The pain and suffering he will instill on mankind for refusal to accept and live by him will be greater than any other time. God(Jesus) can only take so much. Iraq had WMD's. That IS a FACT. Iraq was a terroristic regime and harbored terrorists. That IS a FACT!!!

As a Christian, we have to take the Bible as a whole. The Old Testament is filled with wars that God sanctified. So to answer your question, if the war is sanctified by God, we can support it. The current war in Afghanistan is in self defense - the Taliban were harboring and helping Al Quada - we were justified in our own defense. The war in Iraq? Time will tell.

You don't have to be a bible scholar to know that Jesus said,

Those who live by the sword will die by the sword.

Rev Chapter 19 states that Jesus is going to destroy all the armies of the world.

Isa 4:4 says that God's servants would beat their weapons into farming tools.

Trying to use the 'Old Testament' to prove Chirstians can fight,

is taking scriptures way out of context.

The man of all nations can be pleasing to God.

In the OT it was only the nation of Israel.

Christ changed that.

Not all wars are avoidable. War should be avoided, if at all possible, but sometimes the opponent refuses to listen. Iraq was unnecessary. Afghanistan was reactionary to 9/11.

By only supporting just wars - of which there is an accepted definition! For example, WWII was just, the Bush War in Iraq is not.

Careful, there are documented crimes and murders in the "holy book" too!

I am an atheist myself, and I can't justify the war either. Go figure why Christians would...

As a Christian myself, I am disturbed by the amount of professing Christians who are blindly following Bush, especially with all of the questionables surrounding the Iraq war.
