this is one of the best question asked here.

First of all I would not give money to charity nor would i buy fast cars, women and drugs. There are so many beautiful things you can do, see and experiecne and you only have one life to do so. I would just travel around the world for the rest of my life doing charity work, seeing sites, doing things, getting great experience.

I wouldn't give money to charity cuz i believe in the following: "You can GIVE a fish to a man and he will eat for a day, TEACH him how to fish and he will eat for rest of his life" Worlds problem are there not because of lack of funding, but because of government policies and major companies driven towards profit and not caring about the smaller people. Winning a lottery wouldn't give me much power or ability to influence on poeple, just the capability to buy material things.

I see celebrities throwing their money around for cars, gadgets, clothes, properties etc they don't even need. It disgusts me that they are wasting away their ability to influence the people that would help solve the problems in the world. Hell, if all the celebrities got their act together they could solve the world problem, but are too busy buying material things cuz of the pressure they get from media....

what a world we live in....

After taxes, at least 10% to charities, probably more. I'd share with family as much as gift-tax regulations permit. Another10% could be "mad money" -- more likely to spend that on travel than cars, etc., though I probably would be a new car. Most of the rest, I'd invest so that I could bump my lifestyle up a notch or two.
This is completely theoretical, however, since I am opposed to the lottery and would never play it. But, as you say, thinking about this is a fun activity for a Friday.

I would spend most of my mula on charity but I would start my own. But here in lies the problem. If your like me, charity work can be addicting.Personally there is no greater high than to see the joy on a poor child's face when you give them a decent meal. 20 mil is a drop in the bucket when it comes to helping the world and when it runs out your hooked and you want to keep it going so you start asking for contributions like some of the charities that most of the other folk answering this question don't want to give to. But still a better addiction than fast cars, fast women, drugs and drink.

I'm not sure that I'd actually donate money to a charity. I would spend at least half of the money in a charitable manner though. Instead of donating money to an animal rights organization or specific shelter - I would build a no kill facility instead complete with Veterinary staff to spay & neuter in an effort to prevent more animals from being in shelters. Instead of giving money to a homeless shelter or medical facility I would instead spend the money myself on things needed for the improvement of the shelter or facility.

My donations of charity would remain in my country and would service the needs of those here that need what our government and activitists will not provide for them.

I would buy myself a car (not an expensive luxury one) and would buy the house and property that I am currently renting. I would continue working my current job but would cut back my hours so that I would have more time to be of service to my family and my community.

To be honest i dont really like to think where my money goes when i give to charity because we dont really know if it helping or not. If i won 20 million i rather go out somewhere where people are struggling and help them buy a water pump and see it put in place rather than give it to someone who says they will do it. So i wouldnt give anything. Would buy a big house fast car and invest the rest wisely and live of the interest =0)

Since it appears these charities' first call on their funds is to ensure that the salaries of their quite highly-paid executives get paid: nowt. Zilch.
With 20 million quid I'd buy a ticket to South India and directly help some of the thousands of kids still starving, parentless, wandering the streets homeless after the tsunami. It's a disgrace that these victims are being forgotten by the stupidly war-bent world.

I would give a healthy percentage, maybe 75% - 80%, to other people, including charity, but not all at once - much would be invested in their name. I would regard myself aged 85 as a charity case and put aside some money for that. I would also not tell anybody but my accountant. Why? Because so many people would cosy up to me as "best friends" and "deserving causes".

When you know (and have come face to face with) people who are suffering in real life, it is extraordinarily difficult to splurge cash on meaningless items like luxury sports cars.

I've always said that if I was rich I would just waste money until I was poor. If I had more than a million I would give the rest all to charity - a million is enough for me any day!

So £19,000,000.00 to charity.

I am not sure how I would split it .The majority would go to foundations......The American Cancer Society(since i have had a scare with cancer) the AIDS foundation(the only cure they have found we can not use because it would kill us also) Make a wish foundation.....there are way to many ...a lot of them have impacted my life in one way or another......the rest of it I would put back for college for my child(I am where I need to be )I would not stop working...........and then help ,out those that need it because they do not have much of nothing but can not benefit from different organizations.
