Usually around 6 hours, can be as little as 4 or 5, and on my one day off a week its about 9. Cant sleep in the day though, napping is out of the question as I then feel groggy for the rest of the day and cant sleep at night.

On average I get 12-14 hours, but then again I have weeks of complete insomnia so I guess i'm just catching up. Gone are the days I can survive on on 2 hours a night.
Needless to say, I never feel refreshed, groggy if I get too much and sick if I don't get enough. Tried getting only 8 hours, end up having to go back to bed.

Well, I'm not average--I have pain from fibromyalgia, sleep apnea, and a bunch of other health crap, however, to answer your question, I sleep around 8 hours at night & frequently take a nap of 1-2 hrs in the late afternoon. It's really the quality of sleep, that matters, you know, uninterupted, deep sleep w/dreams.

Hi,
It depends more on the quality of sleep you get than the quantity. My husband sleeps for exactly 8.5 hours daily. But he still feels tired as he has involuntary limb movement. So his quality of sleep is poor. I managed to get 4 hours of sleep daily during my college days, but I still felt fresh as my quality of sleep was good, no interruptions, no waking up, just Zzzzzz.
