First I will just make it clear I hate both party's. Politicians every single one of them, senators and representatives are not activists, many have no work experience, they went right into politics out of college. If you actually check out how they vote, they rarely ever vote in the interest of the American people but for corporations, plus just look at how much money they take from lobbyist.

I keep seeing posts by people saying the democrats care about America or are not in corporations pockets. Democrats care little about America just like the Republicans. Democrats take corporate money just like republicans and whenever democrats are in power they get even more, just like how republicans right now are getting more. Corporations flood money into the party in power.
Democrats and Republicans are the same thing, if democrats cared about the poor and elderly, why is it in my blue state where they have almost all the state senate seats they refuse to raise the minimum wage, support illegal aliens while poor americans are on the street and kick elderly out of there homes when they can't pay the property tax on time?

Off the top I agree with you in that neither party seems to have the American people’s interest in mind when they vote. Congress should be fired—Republicans and Democrats. Neither party actually focuses on problems. They put all of their time into stirring up issues that continue to keep the American people divided so that each of them can keep their seat in the House. It’s a shame…

Yeah, our entire system sucks, politicians are whores by default in both parties, and the choice is always between two evils. And of course it's hard to know how to objectively interpret anything you hear about our so-called "representatives," because nothing reaches you unspun. The best you can do is try to sift the BS for clues, honestly. Most people don't even bother with that, they just vote their emotions, which is why political ad campaigns are always either sentimental or vicious, and why talk show hosts who appeal to the lowest common denominator are so successful.
All that said, I think it's pretty obvious that the GOP is in corporate America's back pocket at a greater depth, and closer to the buttcheek, than the Democrats have ever been, which you see in things like corporate wellfare and tax cuts for the mega-wealthy in a time of ridiculously expensive war. They've conducted a program of mutual exploitation with the "religious right" to cultivate votes from a particularly pliable segment of society by pandering to their Dark Ages agenda. Under Bush, they've crashed and burned, and anybody who wants to argue that point can do it with somebody else.
I know the "conservative" groupie mentality is that the Dems just love to raise taxes for the sheer visceral thrill of it, but guess what - somebody is going to have to pay for BushCo. And of course by "somebody" I mean you and me; it's just a question of who hands us the bill. Bush isn't going to do it - he's leaving that for his successors to worry about - but he appreciates the fact that you let him run it up for 8 years while he campaigned to cut taxes for the rich!
There are things I don't necessarily agree with on the Democratic side, but there's practically nothing I agree with on the Republican side. And people say "You don't vote AGAINST somebody, you vote FOR somebody," but that's only if you're naive enough to buy this or that line of nonsense at face value. I vote against the GOP, OK? I'd wear a button that said so...lol.

First off, I agree on a mutual disgust of both parties.
Why would I vote democratic next time through....simple : the Republican party has allowed our President "elect" to run amok and make our national economy a nightmare, and also ruin our image throughout the rest of the world.
The next president better have some patience, and some freakin' backbone to fix all the damage the Republicans have caused both internationally and internally to our nation.

So far I think all these answers are great opinions, so let me share mine.
I vote for the best politician. But who might that be? Who really knows the best person for the job? The Republicans are so full of themselves. Any one who makes less than 100k/yr need to needs to really research the candidates because if you vote for the GOP, you're fooling yourself. They are not out to help you esp. if you end up losing your job or come in difficult times. We all need some help and assistance or want to get more for our money.
As far as the new Medicare changes, that is a bunch of crap. Get a copy of it and try to understand how it works. You either pay for an additional ins. plan or supplement that cost you more in the longrun or penaltalized for not signing up. This is just one of the ways the Republicans fool you into thinking they help us.Look at the economy, energy bill, gas prices, grocery prices, insurance rates, interest rates, college tuition, local school funding, taxes, Katrina assistance and rebuilding, etc.
We have had more wake up calls with this presidenency and we are still ignorant to fall into this trap. Wake up America! We need to stand together and vote for a party that we can stand together on. The independent is a great choice but have no chance in hell because the electoral college does note cast there votes for them, so they have no chance. So vote to make a change so we can get halfway out of this rut.

They may be (now) the "lesser of two evils" as someone said, but I don't believe it. Just look at the good done by the Clinton Administration and how much MORE he could have accomplished had he not been stalled and shut down at almost every turn by the hateful, bipartisan politics of Congress then!
I vote Democratic, because, unlike Rethugnicans, they actually CARE what happens to Americans!

Well i think both parties are two worried about making the lobbyist and corporations happy so they continue to keep the money flowing into there party, that we no longer hear any truth from both sides.
I think we the people should all vote for another party besides the Dem's. and rep. to send them a message that this country is about the people and not money

There is an incredible amount of compromise no matter what. It is almost a bad thing to not have some problems in your past as a politician. If you are squeaky clean then the other politicians have nothing on you and get nervous. It becomes an air of blackmail so no one really gets anything done.

I don't. I vote Independent. Most people have no idea and no interest in the Independent party because it requires of them to think about issues in a different way and is a challenge to the status quo. Independents, by the way, are not Communists, Socialists, Martians or Geeks - they are real people who work real jobs, they aren't perfect and don't mind telling you so, and could even be your next door neighbor. The difference between them and the other two is, Independents don't have Ph.d.'s in lying and deception.

I agree with a lot of your points. But, your statements are a bit fatalistic. We can't give up on our country and our system. In the long run it works.
As for me, I absolutely always vote. And, damn I always will. It is all we have that separates and unites as a people. I believe in our rights and our freedoms. And the second we relax and become complacent we will lose a bit of that freedom. It is up to each of us to make the changes in our govenment one vote, one letter, one petition, one protest at a time.

Your right...all politicians have hidden agendas...but at the end of the day i would vote for a democrat because they are (1) they are the lesser of two evils (2) republicans are too extreme in their views(3) democrats care more about the welfare and issue of ppl
