we can only guess the shape and placement of ears on a dinosaur
because ears are made of "soft tissue" and don't "show up" in fossils

Note that modern reptiles don't have visible ears either. The lack of an external ear, however, is not the same thing as no ear at all.

just tell him the ears are REALLY REALLY small. like a fullstop. So if you wanna draw ears, fine. Just draw it the size of a fullstop.
