if so by how many days does it shorten it? is it safe to conceive while on it?

Yes usually clomid will shorten it if you are irregular. I was doing 40 day cycles and started clomid. I went down to about 32 day cycles and I did ovulate on it. It is safe to take as long as you aren't pregnant. So it's best to make sure you aren't pregnant before starting another round of it. Of course there was one month I was on it I still had a long cycle. It varies from woman to woman. I also have PCOS so that was a cause too.

Clomid is to help you ovulate on a regular basis so it's easier for you to get pregnant.
