Check your Bios settings and check if u plugged the CD ROM data cable in it's proper slot on you mother board.

Did you configure the jumper on your CD drive incorrectly? Since you just switched everything over and it suddenly appeared, that would be the first thing to check. There should be a moveable jumper on the back of the drive that switches between MASTER, SLAVE, and CABLE SELECT modes. Make sure that it is in the correct position (MASTER if it's the only drive on the IDE cable, SLAVE if there is already a MASTER on the same cable, or CABLE SELECT if all of your other drives are already set to that. Next go into your BIOS Setup program (before Windows boots, often by holding down Del, but differs between manufacturers), and see if your CD is detected in BIOS. If it is not, try Autodetecting the drives. If it shows in BIOS, but not in Windows, there is a bug in Windows (Some versions) that will cause a CD drive not ot register, but that would be one BIG coincidence if it suddenly appeared just when you switched cases.

Ill try to answer this with a question .. Does it matter on the cable that goes from the drive to the mother board if its a cable that can be used for 2 drives . does it matter witch input is for that certain drive ? or the pins on the back of the drive . the ones with the jumpers to make the drive a slave or the main drive ? cause I'm in the middle of doing the same thing today what your doing , But i did not start Putin it back into the new box . i found a big all 3 ft tower .. I'm want to put all my stuff into 1.

O.K. go to device manager and tic "DVD/CD-ROM Drives" then, right click on the offending drive and select "uninstall", then reboot the computer. This will reload the drivers. They may have become corrupt.
