What role does television occupy in your life? Do you feel that its effect is more beneficial than harmful?

Why or Why not? The extent to which you schedule revolves around your favorite program. What are they, why do you like them?

Television is beneficial to me for two reasons. 1) is to stay informed on current events and 2) to escape this reality.
While the two are diametrically opposed, I find it very therapeutic.
I watch a cable news channel and Battlestar Galactica (the new series). I love Battlestar Galactica because it contains the familiar and the unfamiliar. The story is very well written and keeps you guessing. I like sci-fi stuff and this is the first show to come along in a while that makes me feel like a little kid and I actually get excited to see the next episode.
I watch Fox News as well. While I'm sceptical of ALL news organizations, I like Fox because they have a sense of humor... something the main 3 networks and CNN lacks. I have no problem with commentators cracking a one-liner after a light hearted story and that's basically why I like Fox.

Television is just something waffling away in the corner.
It has it's place with some wicked informative Documentaries but I avoid the TV as much as possible.
Soaps R there 2 brain-wash the Dim & depending on the on-going story line it usually ends up influencing the General Public 2 it's disadvantage.
Sort of. But it's in the Sun, it's gotta B true!

Action/drama is never what they say it will B about & usually turns out 2 a few explosions & a lot of smut.

I've been known watch CSI, Las Vegas is far better than Horatio & his fiddling with his sun-glasses & hinkey acting.

But even I admit it they put on a series of Hammer-House of Horror I'd have 2 watch just 4 the lame acting/screaming/blood.
I'd rather spend an hour or 2 watching a film & then switch the Telly off.
