Yes, i had my house burgled in 2002. A close friend had a spare key.Broke in round the back of house.I was in Plymouth, home was in Bristol.When choosing your friends remember that hindsight is perfect! Also many thieves operate locally because they are familiar and comfortable in their own area.

I have been burgled twice at different houses. Both times entry was by a window. One window was removed completely out of the frame, and the other the window was smashed in. Neither time was I at home thank goodness.
It is a MAJOR trauma believe me and I am now very security conscious though I'd prefer not to go into details about that.

A few years ago, i returned home with my kids and other half, and my little lad ran to the front door, looked in the window, and said there is a man in the house mummy. I said, don`t talk silly, came in the house, and there was someone running out the garden, and jumped over the wall. We had had a day out, it was around 5pm, when we returned. My kitchen window had een forced open, drawers were open, lids off vases, (looking for money), and i had £190 stolen from a drawer upstairs. The police never did get him, they told me he had almost certainly kept watch on us, knew when to come in, and steal from us. It made me shudder, and very nervous for a while after. Also, my little lad saw him, although he was too young to give the police a decent description, he was 3 yrs old at the time, just said, "it was a man"

I've been burgled twice.
Once at my parents' house when I was younger. They smashed through the front door glass (victorian stained glass window) with a box we had in the porch. During the day when we were at work/school.
Once when I was a student. They broke a back window and got out through the back door. It was 8pm - I know this because I disturbed them and chased them down the garden! It was a rented ground-floor flat with very poor security. Alarmingly, they came back the following day, knocked on the door and asked if Dave/Steve/Brian was in and then scarpered (no-one with any of those names lived in the house).

I was nine yrs of age, the whole family were asleep and they climbed in through the kitchen window, right over the dogs head! (needless to say, we gave him to another family as he was supposed to be our guard dog! we needed a dog that would make noise!) They took the VCR, left the tv (?) and nicked the stereo speakers but not the stereo (??) The main problem my dad had was that they nicked his cigarettes! But seriously, the scary thing was, it was when my dad was in the army, so it was a quarter, and they could have left a bomb under our beds. The last guy that had lived there had his legs blown off from a car bomb. Just shows you that you are not safe, even with the MOD's finest patrolling the streets.

Had my house burgled a couple of years ago. we were out to dinner, the guy had popped the back window, we actually walked in just as he was walking out of the back! still didn't catch the b*stard.
Was actually devastating, he only took things he could carry, i.e. all of my jewellery & money!

Middle of the day on a Thursday. Busted out a pane of glass, opened the window, climbed in. Broke a different window on the way out.
Took about 15lbs of change and left the expensive digital camera.
Morons.

we had our house burgled they got in through the front room window which didnt have a lock on it in the middle of the night and we where in bed.

It was between 10 and 10.15am; they cracked the glass in the back door, but then forced the cat door and reached up to the keys that were in the lock and unlocked the door. I was out for less than 20 minutes.

yes 2 times april 2005 was not at home came in through the back door,
second time all four of us were sleeping and about 3 in the morning they pryied open the back door that was in may 2006
