Depends on what you mean. If you are talking about legend, then it's the billy goat. If you are talking about reality, it's bad management and the Tribune Company. The Cubs can be best benefited by the Tribune Company selling them and an independent owner who actually cares about the team, and not just dollars, owning them!

The legend has to do with the billy goat and the 1945 World Series. The owner of the goat bought a ticket for himself and a ticket for the goat and the Cubs would not admit the goat to the game. However, there is no curse. There weren't any supernatural forces that pushed Bartman hands up into Alou's way in 2003. He was just a fan who forgot what was going on and got caught up in the action. It wasn't a curse that caused A-Gonz to boot the potential inning ending ball and it wasn't a curse that kept Baker sitting on his hands while all this was going on. Fortunately, those guys are gone and a new era is coming to the North Side.

There are two "curses" one from the Polo Grounds of the NY Giants in 1908, were they had to replay a game after a riot. 1908 and it was a lead up to the World Series, the Cubs went and the Giants didn't and they Cubs were received a curse for this.

The second was the 1945 goat one that has been mentioned above and they haven't been to the World Series since. They can't get there and they can't win according to believers in these curses.

Can;t believe that most of the answers here are wrong.

It is the "Curse of the Billy-goat"

A guy was not allowed to bring his goat into the stadium. He made a big fuss about it, and said when interviewed that the Cubs will never win a World Series. They haven't won it since then. He never actually said "he was going to put a curse" on the Cubs. He just said that the Cubs will never win a WS. I'm sure he said it out of frustration and anger.

The correct answer is about the '45 series. There have been several attempts to try to reverse the curse, including a bar near Wrigley field roasting a goat as the daily special, but nothing seems to work. The Cubs shortcomings are more a result of the Tribune company that hires people they think the fans want instead of putting together a team that can actually win.

No its not a curse, its rigidity! They consistently arise with some lame excuse each 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. If this got here all the way down to the final game interior the NL championship and there become 2 outs, 3-2 count form, top of the ninth, runner on 1st, at abode foremost 4-3 and the subsequent pitch woods throws, is hit foul, yet hit in direction of a woman interior the front in a wheel chair, she cant flow ohh no, and Ramirez reaches out yet, cant seize it because of the fact they lady ought to not flow!!!! then the guy hit the subsequent pitch out. could the cubs blame the lady? recover from it cubs followers, what else got here approximately that 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, interior the play off? No hitting, undesirable pitching? This become their 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, yet choked!!! they won't take care of the rigidity!!!! youthful, gifted, yet not rigidity made yet, Like they are saying "possibly next 3 hundred and sixty 5 days" and additionally i'm a white sox fan and a minimum of i can admit the sox sucked so undesirable they won't play basic baseball

In 1945 the Cubs and the Detroit Tigers were in the world series. The owner of a bar and grill, Vasili (Willy) Sianis bought 2 box seats to game 4 , one for himself and one for his pet goat, "Murphy" (Sinova). They were allowed in, but fans complained about the goats odor, and Sianis and his goat had to leave. He put a curse on the Cubs, they lost game 4 and eventually the series. Sianis phoned cubs management and asked, "Who stinks now ?". There's been several attempts to remove the curse, one I remember was bringing another goat to a game. Didn't work, right ? A side note to Killer Chick...Get the facts kiddo, there's even been a book about this subject "Da curse of the billy goat"

Not exactly sure what you are referring to by "curse"--could it be the fact that they have not won a World Series since 1908 and haven't even been to the world series since like 1945? I think the problem today is that the Cubs fans won't put their feet down...Why would the franchise spend money on expensive, winning players if the Cubs already always sell out Wrigley Field as a Losing team??? It's not rocket science--until the fans stop attending the games and the team starts losing money there is no need for them to attempt to turn it around....

Well the " curse" is about some man who wanted tot ake his billy goat to the game and was denied so he put a curse on them. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS CURSES. CURSES ARE EXCUSES FOR LOSING.
