He is a nob. Don't let him get to you.

I see that a lot where I work. Although in my case, it's not a matter of authority, most of my co-workers just seem to follow this person's lead which is usually just being immature and annoying. Other times at work without this person present, it's a professional atmosphere. In my circumstance, maturity is a must (hospital) and any bit of immaturity is really irritating. It just takes one spoiled apple to ruin the bushel.

Funny enough, me and my mates are just talking about the same thing...
We work with someone who's out of the office 2day and the whole atmosphere in the place is so different (i.e. NICER!!) than when she's here.
Someone reckons that she needs a good seeing to...

This is what happens when you work for someone. In order for a company to make money, the "atmosphere" must be professional and work oriented. There has to be someone in charge who keeps your office from becoming just a social gathering.

He sounds like a tosser.

The only other person I know who can change the atmosphere in a room is Storm. But she's nice though.

It sounds like because everyone's allowing it. Someone with an "attitude" (good and bad) tends to bend others to his/her will. A person with a bright shining attitude can walk into a place and literally light up the entire environment and everyone wants to please the person one way or the other... A person with a bitter bent out of shape attitude can walk in and suddenly everyone's walking on eggshells not wanting to bend the person out of shape any further.
It's really quite comical to see how one person can affect so many others...if they allow it. Once you learn not to allow someone's bad attitude to affect you and let it roll off your back like water on a duck you'll begin to conform to that person's behavior to the point that person realizes, he/she's not even getting to you... you keep YOUR head up and you do YOUR job and you SMILE with your entire being and before you know it, you'll have changed everyone's attitude to your liking because of what you're generating.
Most people generate what they put out... Just like the Law of Attraction... you get back what you put out... put out good, get back good...put out bad, get back bad... Law of Attraction plain and simple
Good luck!

Thats like my boss. We have a laugh when he is not here but do all work more effectively. I find my efforts go into avoiding him.
He is a bit like David Brent from the office. And the kid at school no one liked but he tried so hard that made himlook even more of ****.
He is offensive, rude, chovanistic (can't spell it) and called me a fat ***** once!

I worked with someone like that. I constantly thought of the proverb: "One fly causeth the whole ointment to stink."! She poisoned the entire atmosphere. How she did it, remains a mystery.

Because most people don't stand up to sociopaths. Sociopaths tend to take over a workplace, because they have the time, energy and determination to force everyone else to submit to their will.
