If you look at a t-shirt, there are no seams up the sides. So how are they made? Does the fabric come originally in tube shape?

Yes the jersey fabric is knitted together as a tube.

Yes it does. You can buy it from a fabric store that way and then the sleeves are put on separately or can be cut from a pattern out of the tube itself, depending on the pattern. Then ribbing is added to the neckline, arm and bottom hems added.
