I find it amazing that the "expert" opinions of your readers are as if they really know what they are talking about. They say "defrost it" or "buy a new one"....thats just dumb advice made by non-experienced wannabees!!!

Your freezer will not freeze for a few reasons...lets review what they could be so you can decide what you need to do.

Defective timer can stick in "defrost" position and not advance back to allow freezing.

Heating calrod or element defective, and thereby causing icing which causes freezer to become a block of ice and no air traveling to refrigerator.

Defective freezer thermostat will stop defrost process from working and also allow accessive icing to block evaporator.

Defective freezer fan not pushing air to freezer or to refrigerator.

All of the above are repairable by a technician.

Defrosting a refrigerator doesnt solve any of the above problems, it simply prolongs it and in a matter of about ten days, will reaccur.

Raising temps to colder number will not do it either....remember, always leave your temp controls for freezer and refrigerator at equal numbers...or in the middle setting...never have one high and one low, it will screw everything up.

If you decide to defrost your refrigerator, change your temps to mid range. However, all that will do is buy you some time before it happens again. So, I highly reccomend you not take advice from novices with extreme advice and call a service tech to solve your problem.

The coils are froze up, if it is a side by side look on the inside of the freeser, if you see frost the coils are froze up, most frost free freezers have a heater in them that kicks on every so often to keep frost from forming, apparently yours isn't working properly, and 90% of the time even if you thaw them out it will freeze again, you will need to call a repairman to get this problem fixed it could be the switch that tells the heater when to kick on and when to shut off. We just had this problem with our side by side and had to have a part replaced. Remember the freezer section also controls the refridgerator so don't wait or you will lose all the stuff that is in your fridge and freezer section.

Check the temperature setting in the freezer. If it has accidently been moved turn it to a higher number. It's best to only adjust it one notch every 24 hours until it's the proper temperature. Also, make sure that the door is sealing correctly when you close it.

contact the company and check for your warranty!! If you still have a warranty, get it replaced, let them fix it, or get your money back!! A year is too soon for a refrigerator to start messing up!!!

Because you do not have the guarantee you better call the store maintenance dpt. they have the technicians and the parts, first ask for a cotization because they use to be expensive

The cooling coils have most likely frozen up. Unplug it and let it defrost.
