It's not the lakes. It's the sky. The lakes pick up their color from the sky. Clear, clean, vivid blue sky makes for blue lakes. This phenomenon is common at high altitudes, since the air is bound to be cleaner at altitude.

Most of us dont live at the high elevations through out most of Switzerland. Even when we go to visit wherever our local lakes are, they are not likely as high as those on your visit. Still, we do have those picture postcard lakes at some locations. Try looking up photos of Lake Tahoe, on the California, Nevada border. Or other lakes in the true mountain ranges, Sierra Nevada, Rocky Mountains, Applachian Mountains, or the mountains of Alaska and Canada.
