Have you had or seen an accident involving a bus? Do they happen often?

Buses think they own the roads. Well the drivers do!

if you consider the hours the buses are on the road to the amount of accidents then it is very few accidents.
but if an accident occurs u have to remember that a bus will hit a smaller vehicle as this will cause less damage than by braking hard and throwing all the passengers about..ie elderly and infirm and the young! have u seen the aftermath of a bus doing an emergency stop?? not nice at all!
cars have higher percentage of accidents....
remember buses are build for pulling weight not speed! be patient for god sake! it gonna pull in the next stop anyway and then u can overtake! and remember car drivers u r just one little person trying to reach ur destination, there up to 90 people on a bus trying to reach theirs! dont be so selfish!
oh and if buses are so dangerous why does everyone pull out or cross the road in front of a bus??
u knwo that is true.. think about it.. if u see a bus coming then u go for it!

My sister was involved in an accident with a bus. She was a passenger in a car and the bus just pulled out in front of them. Another one involved my sons friend on a double decker. He'd had two pints after work, got on the bus to the upper deck. When the bus pulled away from the stop before he'd got to get off, Mark got up and started to make his way down the stairs. The bus braked sharply and Mark went 'flying' down the stairs. He had to have hospital treatment but because he'd admitted to having a couple of pints, the driver swore to god he hadn't braked sharp. Mark couldn't claim a penny because he couldn't prove he'd only had two pints. Yet we suppose the bus driver wasn't asked if he could prove he hadn't braked sharp!

I was on a city bus when a truck decided to cut the bus off and ended up hitting us. It wasn't that bad, but of course the bus had to stop and file a report and I was really late to work. I also had a friend who was on a bus when the driver fell asleep. Not good. But for the most part I think they're just as safe as travelling in a car.

Buses are safe. The riders are above the impact plane compared to must other vehicles.
