Our daughter has been sleeping through the night consistently since 5 months. Except for the occasional cold or teething, she has been a little champ. But for the past week or so, she's been waking up every one to two hours and simply screams. We let her cry it out most of the time, but when she wakes up during the 1 am hour, she will just cry and cry. Last night she cried for half and hour till I finally couldn't stand it anymore and went it to check on her. She is teething, but the Tylenol had been working fine, so I don't really think it's teething. She has the slightest of a runny nose, but the mucus is clear and she doesn't have a fever, so I think I can rule out that she is sick. She's also extra grumpy during the day.
Help please! What could be wrong? I know she's not hungry as she refuses the bottle and her eating habits have been "normal." I say "normal" because they are normal for her.

She doesn't normally refuse the bottle. Only in the middle of the night when she is crying. I just take this as a sign that she's not hungry at 1 am. During the day she eats like a little champ.

She could be having night terrors(bad dreams). My son went thur this and it lasted for about a week or so. Not much you can do. I would just go in this room give him a hug. If this continues i would ask her doctor.

I'm no expert but I do have 10 years experience in child development. I do not agree with the "CRY IT OUT" method. It may work for some but for most babies it just pisses them off even more. If your baby is waking up ever two hours and crying for long period of time she may really not feel good and it could be an ear infection. When babies have an ear infection you may not know unless there is discharge or they are rubbing at their ear. But if they begin to fuss alot and refuse the bottle that could also be a sign. The sucking sensation causes their ear to ache. If it is not that I would go to the doctor's office.

Sounds like an ear problem to me. Especially since she is not taking her bottle as normal. Swallowing and sucking may hurt her ears. My son did that once and it was an ear ache...the pressure build in their ears when they lie down. The screams indicate not the usual whining thing too you know, sounds like she is hurting. I would take her ro the drs. Your intuition is probably right, something is wrong. Let a professional tell you. The worst case scenario is he will just send you home with claen bill of health. Good luck.
