My eyes feel like they could pop...and I feel physically sick.

I'm just sooooooo tired!

I read an article that said that the minimum is 6 hours per night - 8 for health. If you do not catch up on sleep lost within a 7 day period you actually physically lose brain cells. As already said you will actually go nuts eventually and get massively depressed so who knows what you'll do. You could be delirious and think you can fly off a cliff or something. Your body will be so physically run down that it impedes mineral and vitiamin absorbtion so you get ill health and malnourishment, which can lead to death.

No your body will shut down before that happens. To regulate the heart lungs nervous system and brain there has to be a resting period. A friend of mine was up for 7 days one time due to being sick at the end of the seventh day she passed out and woke up three days later in the hospital from not getting rest and dehydration. So no it can not kill you

The body will cope with tiredness by, in a sense, shutting down. I think these what breakdowns are.

However, My sister's high school classmate had a sister who died after tiring herself too much. She slept very little for days, I think even weeks. She then collapsed and died. Apparently, she had aneurysm and her lack of rest seemed to have caused the vein to pop. I guess being tired to much can trigger some unknown sickness in people, if you have it.

Anyway, tiring yourself too much is never healthy.

My 30 year tiredness was recently diagnosed as chronic borreliosis related to chronic lyme disease.Tiredness is a symptom and many people are misdiagnosed as having chronic fatigue syndrome and often many other unexplained medical problems.Preferably see a doctor with some speciality of diagnosing lyme disease infections.
It may be also of use to see your normal doctor to rule out other problems like thyroid disfunction etc.

I think you would eventually collapse before you died, but if you have a weak heart etc then collapsing like that could trigger another condition that might kill you, or if you were using drugs to stay awake then I suppose you could die of exhaustion.

Get some kip!!!! And yes not sleeping can kill you...you'll eventually start to go mad and your brain will bugger up if you don't get sleep ever.

Did you not see that documentary about the man who couldn't sleep? I don't know how long he lasted..but it was the ultimate cause of his death..because he was never getting the chance to rejuvinate his body.

If your body didn't make you fall asleep, you'd never have chance for your body to slow down and rejuvenate, eventually you'd not have enough energy to breathe etc. You'd have to stay awake for absolutely ages though!
