Music such as the opera, symphony, and dancing. Jazz clubs were becoming high fashion, baseball or cricket (depending on the country), going to the races, going to the movies. Many families would have family night in which the whole family would participate with a special dinner, a talent show, and anything the children had been studying in school, relatives were sometimes invited if something extra special was planned. Theme parks were also in high fashion after the 1900 World's Fair. Going to the beach became a fun leisure activity. During this time period there were two wars and the great depression, however people managed to still fill their time with leisure pursuits.

The biggest leisure activity of the 30s and 40s was cinema. Also soccer and other sports. After radio was introduced it quickly became popular - sets were subsidised in Germany in the 30s so the people could listen to Hitler's speeches (hey!!). Ramblers Association was begun between the wars. Toy soldiers and guns and dolls, board games etc

You dont say what age group or country you wan to know about.

Well, the TWO people in history between 1900-1950 who affected the world as we knew it and know it today, would have been Stalin and Hitler. However, as Stalin's murders were generally not known and/or not reported until well after 1950, I would say that Adolph Hitler had the most effect on the first half of the 20th century. whale

Gramophones (early record players) weren't uncommon after 1920 or so. If you couldn't play records, quite often you'd have a piano and learn to play the hit songs yourself.
