hey, how do you write an appendix for a report.?

i work full time but doing a college course also, was quite impressed i manage to write a report but the tutor came back and said i need an appendix, can anyone help. tried lookign on the internet but it was all abit bla.... if you know what i mean.....:-)

First of all, no Saskia M that is a bibliography, not an appendix.

The appendix is used for information that cannot be contained in the main body of the text.

For acadenic purposes, it is mainly used to display graphs and data tables, or additional text that would normally take your word count over the set limit. The appendix is not normally included in the word count.

Sometimes footnotes are included in the word count. This depends on the lecturer so check first.

An appendix usually contains material that could not be included in the main body of the report.

For example statistics that were used to read the conclusions in the report. Experimental techniques and results. Reference to literature sources.

An appendix lists your sources, Books and relevant pages etc. It's like a list at the back of the report.

Go through your report again and note every quotation you made and every bit of information which can be attributed to a specific source. Then compile a list, giving details of title, author, publisher and date.

N.B. It's unlikely that anyone's going to wade through it! But make it look good.
