Fingernails are made up of :
1. Deposition of dead cells one on top of the other.It is one of the main reasons why our nails grow in size regularly. In the wild, the
use of long nails is mostly as claws to hold on to food or prey. Sometimes they are also used in combat or in defence.

2. The other main component in the molecular level is a Simple Fibrous Protein called Keratin or Scleroprotein.It has a structural function in an organism. It is the same protein that is present in our hair.It is also present on horns of Animals.
