I agree with most of the answers that are there already. I would like to ad though that I am reading this great book right now by Stuart Wilde that is called "The Infinite Self." I highly recommend it as it has helped me to find out things that I guess I always knew but never used. The thing about reading this book is that the stuff stays with me, and I practice what is suggested and my life has become more harmonious. In the off chance that you never pick up this book, I will give you two things that are pertinent to finding what you are looking for and that is, 1)Discipline 2) centering your mind. Self discipline is a must, things like taking a walk every morning at 6am. or doing the dishes every night after dinner. For obvious reasons, this has to be done, but for the not so obvious reasons, this will take care of freeing up your mind of distractions and negativity that weigh us down. Centering your mind is about keeping your eye on your goal to become more peaceful and harmonious and things that do not contribute to that, eliminate. Good luck.

To attain inner peace and harmony, be proud of who you are. Give everything you do 110%, so even if you fail you can look back and say I tried, truly I tried. Love yourself and others. Concentrate on the positive aspects of people, if you can't find anything positive distance yourself from that person. ;) Most of all, live your life without regret and by your own moral standards.

Have a good day. Good luck with finding your inner peace.

The ego seeks expansion, whichever way it is allowed to.....
If this is not recognised and channelised, then the uppermost , stronger most tendencies, takes over and manifests into action, or rather action flows out, creating the dis-harmony, loss of inner peace etc, because, the expansion does not happen the big way it seeks, with any external action.
The first step of this inner recognition paves way to the next step of stabilising in the obvious , left out choice ! That of experiencing the unlimited nature of self ! This , does take a lot of effort and intense involvement... but assuredly, the inner peace and harmony starts yielding results even with the process itself !

Trying to achieve inner peace??
I am passing this on to you because it definitely worked for me, and we all
could use more calm in our lives. By following the simple advice I heard
on a Dr. Phil show, I have finally found inner peace.

Dr. Phil proclaimed the way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the
things you have started. So I looked around my house to see things I started and
hadn't finished; and, before leaving the house this morning, I finished off a
bottle of Merlot, a bottle of White Zinfandel, a bottle of Baileys, a bottle of
Khalua, a package of Oreos, the remainder of both Prozac and Valium prescriptions,
the rest of the Cheesecake, some Saltines and a box of Chocolates.
You have no idea how freaking good I feel.

PS: another way to inner peace is to maintain a sense of humor, :)

there is a great book out there called hardcore zen by brad warner. Reading it isn't going to give you instant peace and harmony, but it is a great starter book on zen buddhism which if you practice it, may eventually bring inner peace and harmony. (sitting zazen is the key)

I'm trying to attain this by reducing the size of my ego. When the ego is reduced to partically nothing, the insecurities that come with having to feed that ego are gone. Because insecurity is the root of all evil as far as I'm concerned.
