I am wanting to buy a car from a seller in the UK. He wants me to wire money through Western Union to a fax number that is supposed to be Yahoo! Finance, Yahoo Finance Transaction ID 138120065. Can I be sure that this is a legal transaction and that my money is not going into a scam. I do not have a real invoice and everything has been done by way of email only. Is this a legitimate way to buy a car from an person in the United Kingdom and is it possible to check the number I have shared to verify that it is real? My email address is:

Thanks,

Be careful. If I were you, I would investigate and suggest my own escrow service to the seller. IF he's legit, and understands your concerns, he'll agree to use a well known escrow service chosen by you, or mutually agreed to. If he's scamming you, he'll probably protest or get upset, in which case, walk away.

This is a SCAM! Do not, under any circumstances, EVER wire funds through Western Union for an on-line purchase!

Yahoo Finance does NOT provide ANY such service!!

E-mail me off the forum and I'll give you more information on how these scams work.

if you do fax this money, you are almost 100% sure to lose it. You have no idea who you are dealing with. If you still believe that this person is on the up and up, get a name, addressee and telephone #, then go on the internet and check this person out. Then if you are still interested, go to ebay and check with "paypal" on sending the money.
