Happy Birthday Kitty!
It's a gift for you. So I would skip on giving it to charities. But thats just me. If your parents wanted you to donate it to something they could have done it in your name.
If I were you I would split the cash up. Take part of it and treat yourself to a spa treatment, massage or some sort of pampering. With the rest get yourself something that will last that will be a constant reminder of this time. Maybe a peice of jewelery. So once you become some old lady you can look back and remember these times in your life. Your not going to be able to do that with a new gadget or toy.

Well, is there anything that you have been wanting or needing? Maybe you could take half of it and save it away for a rainy day and spend the other half on having a day of fun with some friends.

Save! tomorrow may be a rainy day. Saving builds character. See how long you are able to withstand the urge to kill your money. Don't piss it away because the moment you don't have it anymore, the opportunity will magically appear. "" If I had only" is the consolation of the foolish .

My husband was given some money as an inheritance and bought a couple of expensive goblets with it. We eventually sold them after carting them around for years. DON'T buy a gadget/ornament/thing.
A couple of years after he was given that inheritance, he had saved some money from working and was able to put a deposit on a house. 14yrs later, we own our dream home because of his foresight at 21 to 'buy' something useful.
Use half to take your friends out for dinner to celebrate and invest the rest for later on.

It's your birthday, spend it on something YOU have been wanting! If it were me, I'd go to the mall and buy something cute to go out on the town in! Happy Birthday!
