had cramping like period pains for about a week now, went to doc thinking I had an infection and when he examined me he said the pain was comming from the babies head coming down opening my pelvic bones, he wasn't to worried about baby getting ready but kept saying he cant force me to stay off my feet but labor hasn't started "YET"(he said that more than once.) and gave me tests to see if i will be delivering within the next two weeks and an ultra sound to see if I am dialating. im only 30 weeks I dont know if this is normal for 30 weeks or if I should be nervous and stay off my feet. Is sex a no no (my husband is wondering?) could labor be coming? Contractions are more regular but nothing serious, I thought that was normal.HELP

Sounds like a lot of excitement there to me!! :-)
I'm told...drink 2 big glasses of water, lay on your left side. See if the contractions subside. (Never did much for mine!!)

Try walking around abit. Go for a walk around the block. I'm not trying to help bring on labor, but...I've many times read and been told throughout my 9 pregnancies, that if they are true contractions, they'll worsen with the walking...meaning you should get to the doc quickly. If they lessen and/or stop, they are almost definitely just Braxton Hicks.

My sis was in real labor and her contractions were never bad (high pain tolerance??) and never regular! She had no clue she was in labor!!!

I do know what test was for the labor...the fetal fibronectin test. You'll know soon what it says. I hear it is VERY reliable. I'll probably end up with one!! My body likes to have 'em early!!

Be careful, and honestly...if you are worried, stay at the doc until he listens or go to the ER and let THEM listen to your fears. One of the things my doc has listed as a reason to call among bleeding, fluid leaking, etc, is a general bad feeling in the mother...that smoething is wrong. I had that with my last two deliveries...both came early, and both had PROM with no labor.

Good luck!! hang in there!!! :-)

Bed rest sweetheart! And NO sex there is something in a mans sperm that can trigger labor. I don't know what tests your Dr did to determine if you would deliver in 2 weeks because my Dr {and he is a high risk OB} was never able to run those tests. I had a round of steroids to promote lung and vital organ development and as scheduled had my son a month early {he was fine} The baby does "drop" when it prepares for labor and there can be contractions which is the pelvis opening for the delivery. Your Dr should have done a cervical check on you as well as an ultrasound to check for funneling etc just to make sure. I was on best rest from 26-35 weeks during my pregnancy with ultrasounds twice a month til i was 28 weeks then weekly til I delivered {oh did I mention a month in the hospital}. No sex from 16 weeks til after the baby was born. There is no better feeling then having a healthy child.

No. Definitely not especially with the fissure! Cereal will not be more filling than the formula, it is thicker but does not contain the same amount of calories and nutrients, so it will NOT make the baby more full or more satisfied. It would be a bad idea to start him this early on baby rice, it is more difficult to digest and will without doubt irritate the fissure. It is unrealistic to expect a baby that young to stop waking for night feedings (sorry!) Baby isn't smacking his lips for 'something more', he does not know anything more even exists. Babies digestive systems are designed for a liquid diet. The recommendation is to wait until 6 months to give anythign except breastmilk or formula, not 4-6 months like it used to be years ago. Even when cereal or whatever food is introduced, breastmilk or formula should make up the large majority of the baby's diet for the first year. You should visit a pediatrician and educate yourself a bit more :) Good luck!

I would think these are Braxton hicks if you aren't dilating.
But if your doctor is saying that then you should take it easy, because 30 weeks is a bit early, 36-to-38 weeks is considered full term.
As for sex I wouldn't have sex, it can cause you to go into labor and I know this because when I was at 35 weeks the doctor suggested it as a way to get things started.
So take it easy and relax, don't over exert yourself and try not to get real stressed out about anything.

Good luck

My daughter started opening my pelvic bone about that time. She just turned around earlier than expected. I had her at 37 weeks and she was perfectly healthy. Sex is fine and may actually bring on labor. So maybe you want to stay away from sex till about 36 weeks. But if your doc didn't say anything about sex, give his office a call to double check. It's a simple qestion you can ask over the phone and you don't have to go in for. Unless you want to wait till next week to ask.

It's a little early for 30 weeks. 36 weeks is considered "full term". If your baby was born now, chances are he or she will be in the NICU for a while.

If you're just having hip pain, braxton hicks contractions and general aches and pains, I would say that's normal. I'm goign through the same thing now. Sex is ok until your water breaks unless your doctor tells you to stop having it.

You really shouldnt leave the doctors office until ALL you questions are answered. Its part of the price of the service you pay him for, so make sure you get it.

You can also call his office and ask to speak to someone who can answer your questions per your personal medical records. Thats the safest thing to do.

The braxton kicks contractions are normal. as is the baby headed into the pelvis area and causing it to be unfomfortable. You shouldnt be dialated yet, but the ultrasound will clear that up. WHy didnt he just check your cervix while you were there? That sort of thing irks me.

ANyway, call up your OB's office and get yourself some answers.

Don't have sex. that helps baby along. so try not to do that sorry hubby. yes stay off your feet as much as you can. walking also helps labor along. relax and try not to stress. you'll be fine. your baby just can't wait to see you. your gonna be a great mom so relax. there are things they can do to stop labor if you do go into it to early so any signs of contractions even small far between you should go to the hospital. goodluck and congrats.
