a friend told me that when she was young she used that bathroom ( doing #2) and a worm came out of her rectum. Can that really happen and what is the reason for such a thing? What is the age rang and time span of how long a worm can survive (if true). How would you know that you have worms also?

Yes, it is true but they are usually intestinal, not in the stomach. Ascarids (round worms) are a common parasite in some some areas. They can be a few inches long and they can be excreted with feces. They are easily treated with piperazine or if there is a major infection, we sometimes follow up with tetrachlorethylene. Tapeworms also affect humans and can be as long as 25 feet or more. Pieces of this worm are excreted in the feces as a gravid proglotid...to spread the worm to other victims. Normal treatment is to use a long tube, run though the nose and weighted with a condom tied around the end with a weight inside the condom..by radiology we position the tube and use a drug to kill the tape worm and then give a laxative to flush it out. Other worms are also fairly common....pinworms which are barely visible but common in children, and hookworms which are literally invisible but do great damage and cause anemia...a simple fecal exam will assure you of the lack of such problems. So there are many forms of parasites, and tapeworms are not much of a problem, it is the the more insidious forms of round worms or hookworms that present the biggest priblems. The method of entry into the body can be from several sources, water, improperly cooked foods, etc. There are still others such as Leptospirosis and Trichinea and both present medical challenges. In some area there are flukes that pass though a complicated life-cycle...to the ultimate host animal or man. In Thailand a parasite called scientifically as Diphylobotrium laltum is a good example and passes through several intermediate hosts, and finally enters reptiles or amphibians and cause lumpy cysts on these animals. People in Thailand believe that holding a frog against the flesh is good to clear various skin ailments and thus the worm migrates to a new host.

It is true that you can have them. The reason is something or someone gave you them. It comes through poorly cooked food and from being infected by others.
They survive in you until you get them treated. You can tell if you have them by seeing the larger ones like tapeworms or because of diarrhea that is tested for worms.

Yes, you can get tapeworms in the stomach. One way is from ingesting something contaminated. If there are pets in the home and they have fleas, a flea can be ingested by a human, unbeknownst to them of course. Fleas carry tapeworms. I think you can also get worms in the rectal area if you're not on point with your hygiene. There's bacteria in feces.

The "worms" are usually parasites, and they are more then likely in the intestines not stomach-they can come from certain foods (pork) or from ingesting the creature through putting items or dirty hands in your maouth-which is why they are common in young children.

Go to the doctor with a warm specimen. They confirm it, and it takes one pill to cure you. DO IT TODAY.

there are several types of stomach worms and I'm not sure how you get them, maybe from someone else.

of course it can happen, there are lots of parasites that can live within you.

you can get one at any time of your life, and you get them from eating at dirty places for example.

if you feel some sort of tickles in your anus when you go, you probably got some.
