if the vehicle is running (idling) for no more than 1 or 2 min. MAX will use less gas. It takes alot of gas to start the vehicle and to get the engine back up to temperature so the computer can go into "closed loop"

( but I wouldn't leave an engine running in case of Theft, )

More gas when left running, so unless it is a dash out & in, turn it off!

While running generally uses more fuel.
