I don't believe it, but yes, it crosses my mind and I giggle to myself because it is such nonsense.

There are many variations on the superstition and the explanations. Most of the origins have to do with the reflection in the mirror representing the soul and the soul being damaged in the breaking. It is unclear whether the bad luck follows directly from damage to the soul, or whether the soul is less capable - in its damaged state - of defending the breaker from misfortune. Many Romans believed every person was remade new every seven years. So if the damage was done to your soul today it would take seven years to be undamaged. Given the Romans beliefs regarding the role of their immortal self in defending their mortal life, it is at least likely that they believed their soul was less capable of defending them. In some forms, the superstition predates the Romans. It even predates breakable mirrors, all the way back to scrying pools. So this is one very long-lived superstition.

I don't believe in that or any superstition really. However, if I do break a mirror, that thought does cross my mind.

It only crosses my mind when I am about to break a mirror when I move it. More like don't break it ... don't break it. Very superstitious

it should be 7 minutes, you see, your mom or dad will scream at you for breaking the mirror(1 minute), next you have to clean it up carefully(1minute),then you wrap it up in newspaper and secure it enough to throw it away(2 minutes),then you have to see whether you have enough money to buy a new one(50 seconds),after that you apologise to your parents for breaking the mirrror(2 minutes) and the rest of the 50 seconds to answer this question

I don't beleive that but I guess I do thin about it becasue one of our cats ran into one in the basement and it broke and I told my husband well she is going to have seven years of bad luck, oh by the way it doesn't hold true for cats either.
