And it's now a card board instead of a top. Is there anything that can be done to undo this? Personal experiences or definite answers only please.

Most of the time, it isnt something you can fix. Try taking it to the cleaners and see if they can do anything.

It's a loss. Some fabrics labeled dry clean only can take a gentle washing, some fabrics contract and freeze up and that's that.

if its already dry, throw it in the dryer, it will help loosen the material. Personal experience
