May be you are making a slight mistake in the title....in all probabilities it is the novel, "5 POINT SOMEONE"....written by Chetan Bhagat.....and it is about the rat race and cut-to-throat competitions at IIT....the point war is described in very practical manners....Hope you were asking about this novel.....Try it if you are that much interested.

Indraraj2 is right. The book is called Five Point Someone. It's about three guys and their time spent at an Indian institute. Google "Five point someone" and it will take you directly to the link you want.
