Dreams could be visual, verbal or just thoughts without either of these.
To stretch your arguement, of technicolor, what is the source of light to illuminate the dream ? In a pitch dark room you bright eyes do not help much even when awake and wide open !
The capability of imagination is the only skill needed to create visuals in a dream. If there is a memory of visuals it is enough to mix up a permutation and combination, in a dream, else , it is just a mixture of what has been available in memory. But one cannot "blindly" conclude the possibility of impressions earlier than the birth , though very difficult to prove logically , it is either to be experienced or believed !
Now, the questions that fascinate... It is the questions that touch the fundamentals of life, about doubts that relate to inconsistencies between perception at sense organs level and those beyond it , they fascinate incessantly !

The ultimate questions that have (and never will have) any definite answers:
Does God exist?
What's the natire of God?
Is there an afterlife?
If there is, what is it like?
Why do the innocent so often suffer while the evil prosper?
Are we all here for a reason?
If you were going to shoot a mime, would you use a silencer?
OK, the last one's probably not an "ultimate question"
but what the heck.

Since a previous answerer cited the fascinating question of "Who am I?" --then perhaps I should cite the two questions asked in Babylon 5 of Sheridan: "Who are you?" (Vorlons) and "What do you want?" (Shadows). There are too many questions that endlessly fascinate me--otherwise I wouldn't spend so much time on Yahoo! Answers!

Your first part of the question and the second part are totally at variance. The second part betrays you totally. That "hehe" is the most hated part of the sentence.
Anyway... since the first question is very relevent i might as well share it with you
"WHO AM I "" is the most fascinating question ever.

Why is there a "something" rather than "nothing" at all?
There is a reality, and this realit is filled with phenomena, but whence does it come from, and why is it that there is actually a reality rathe than nothing at all....What is the necessity, logical necessity of reality, concrete reality as we know it, being in existence. This has always made me wonder.
Is like they say. the mystic experience is not understanding how the universe works, but in that there is actually a universe.

Time and change.
The greatest mysteries.
If time is infinite then how can we be in the present? ie. infinity +1??
Can something change if the is no absolute time?
If there is no change then how can you measure time?
if time and change therefore go together, then how did the world begin?
these could keep me up all night
