I purchased a cell phone online that had a $170.00 rebate. I was jerked around for 1-1/2 years trying to get this rebate from them. I finally received the check this week after a lot of yelling and screaming and cashed it. Two days later, another rebate check for the same amount arrived. I know morally what I should do, but part of me wants to stick it to them for all of the inconvenience and hassle they caused. Had I not raised seven kinds of hell, I don't think I would have received anything. The last department I talked to was called rebate escallation. That tells me they jerk around a lot of people hoping that most will give up. I will never purchase anything that has a rebate again. Any suggestions?

Cash it. You can always claim you thought it was a second rebate

You obviously know the right thing to do. If you cash it do you think you can honestly enjoy the money? Be greatful the the rebate you deserved and go no further than that. It's big company and I'm sure they won't even miss the second rebate amount, but they'll appreciate your honesty in sending it back and you'll feel better.

Depending on where you live and if you have SAFEWAY food stores in your area. that may be an option. Because not only will they cash your rebate check but you also can get 10% off of your food that you buy there.

You are right, the ethical thing to do would be to send it back to them.

But, since cell phone companies really seem to be the most recent incarnation of serious evil on earth (don't you think?) you should keep it. Obviously they are terrible at keeping track of things, and should get more together.

Cash it, then send half your rebate to one of those charities that gives cell phones to battered women in your area...

If they expected you to just "give up" on the money that you were supposed to receive because they are that inconsiderate then cash it, then "IF" they catch it then tell those sorry SOBs that "o well I just expected you to give up and shut up, it's my money now bitches, lol" Honestly for that much trouble they put you through I would and tell them they you never received it or that you didn't know. Hope it works out for you either way.

Cash it...those checks are computer gemerated...and your right...they tend to hold off on rebates hoping people just forget or do not want to deal with it.
The likley any audits will happen ....is nil.

I doubt is was even an error. They most likely sent you another check to shut you up. Cash it and buy yourself something nice : )

don't cash it. you know how it felt when they treated you unfairly, you don't want more of that going on.
