The logic behind borat is the idea of combating stereotypical images of people from underdeveloped countriies as proposed by people from 'the west'. It also satirises topics such as anti-semetism.
Above all... it is comedy!

He was funny but when people, aka a whole country, started to take offence, it wasn't so funny. There is laughing at other cultures then there is plain insulting. I mean, ok, he evened things out by taking the mickey of our yob culture and that was fine but somehow Borat is just turning into a national embarrassment.

Name is Sacha Baron Cohen, a Jewish Entertainer/Comedian who adopts different guises and accents(Ali G?).
He's now Impersonating a Kazakhstan Local and demeaning this countries Culture-Hence all the trouble in New York when he pettioned George W. to attend the premiere of his Movie(if you could call it that!).

I suppose the main thing behind Sacha Cohen's characters is showing how easy it is to get normally decent people to expound & support abhorant, biggoted views...
And it's funny

It's a satire. Sometimes I think he's funny, sometimes I think he tries a little too hard to be funny.
