I have heard that if you have worked in an accountancy type role that you may be able to become chartered without actually ever having an accounting degree.

I am a qualified solicitor but have spent much of my career working in what could be called accounting roles. I have heard there is a way of becoming accredited as a chartered accountant without having to go through the usul process.

Yes. You can work up from AAT (Association of accounting technicians) and then do chartered.

Yes you can. Simply charter an accountant and people will say, "Look he is the one who chartered accountant."
