I have noticed that screwdrivers come in all sorts of different colours and find it a little confusing. Am i meant to choose a particular one or do I just choose my fave colour? Anyway, what colour do you think is the best for a screwdriver?

Yellow seems to be the most popular color, probably because it is easy to find. Screwdriver sets usually have the same basic color with part of the handle being a different color for Phillips head, torx head, flat head, etc. This helps you find the type you want among the other screwdrivers easier.

Robertson (square-head) come in 4 colours (yellow, red, green and black) which relate to the size of the head. Phillips (cross-head) and regular (flat-head) come in basically amber (hard-handle) and black (rubberised or "e-z grip"). Beyond that, different manufacturers will use different colours to make their screwdrivers stand out from the rest or perhaps to indicate how to hold the screwdriver if it has a specially shaped handle. All this aside, I think all handles of all tools should be fluorescent orange so you can find the darn things in the dark. I would say once you decide on the correct head shape and size for your job, pick the handle that's easiest to hang on to and get a good grip on - you don't want a tool that is unsafe to use and if it's uncomfortable to use, you won't use it.

Color means nothing! Screws are generally sized either 1, 2, or 3: 1 being the smallest. Generally most used are #2 for common household items. Toy battery compartments are typically #1 and so forth. The better the screwdriver tip fits the screw, the easier it is to screw in and out. good luck!

LOL, choose the colour you like best. Or go with a bright colour so you can spot it quicker if you drop it... My suggestion, is to pick a screwdriver with multiple head bits that stay with the screw driver and perferably magnetic. That way you always have the right screw driver for the job.

Red for Flat head, and Blue for Phillips. Anything else just confuses me too.
The same way that when Walkers make salt and viniger crisps green instead of blue like everyone else I get confused. Bu66ers!

I would say yellow. For some reason whenever I am looking for a screwdriver, yellow is instantly recognisable.

well seeing as I am Irish and revert everything back to alcohol I think orange is the best colour as a screwdriver is a drink made with vodka and orange juice!!!!!

For safety? Probably yellow which is considered the most visible color. Or red. My choice is yellow.

Then again-maybe your fave would make you a happier SAFER worker? Hmmm.
