We call them post codes, not zip codes.
Sydney central district is 2000. The surrounding areas have their own, so it depends whether you want to mail something to Sydney or a suburb of.
As for the cost, you will have to check with your local post office as you don't say where you are from.
Are we to assume>>>
I sent a package not long ago to San Francisco and it cost AU $60, but it all depends on the size of your parcel as well.

A zip code is know as a post code in Australia
Downtown Sydney's post code is 2000
However Sydney consists of several hundred suburbs each with different post codes.
Ask the person what suburb they live in, then goto http://www.whitepages.com.au/wp/helpfulInfo.do?category=info&item=postcodeFinder to get the post code.
Or alternativly..... just ask the person what their post code is.

Take the package including the doll to the post office and let it weigh, ask how much this is to Australia. The postcode should be told you by the person who gets the doll. How in the world shouod you be able to know this? As already said, central district is 2000, and the other suburbs have own ones, all starting with "2..." - having 4 numbers.

Don't worry about it. Each country has it's own code but you have almost 100% chance of getting the mail through without the "zip" code.
