Both norton And McAfee are heavy on your systems resources. After haveintg Mcafee for over 8 years i have given up on it. Make sure you have uninstalled norton though as this will slow things down due to conflicts. My provider is blueyonder who provide a very good free package wich has everything that McAfee and norton has but uses hardly ony resources and i have 0 problems... I noticed that alot of adware and spyware got past mcafee. There are some good free programs out their that will use less resources and give better protection. nod32 or AVG is a good anti virus, zone alarm is a good fire wall and spy bot is a good spyware program

If you did not uninstall the Norton before installing the Mcafee, these two programs conflict. You can try uninstall one of those, but if it doesn't work uninstall both of them and try to reinstall one.
Norton and McaFee both make make your computer run very slow unless you have the latest hard ware. I use the free edition of AVG Antivirus it's faster and it works fine. However the Free edition of AVG do not come with anti spy ware, and performance tune up tool.
Some of the Performance tune up tool also work fine to speed up your computer. I find that the Systweak Advance System Optimizer work very well and it come with many tool to tune up the computer.
Good luck

I'm pretty convinced that all the the top names such as Norton, Mcafee, and the rest, when you join they are great, as long as your PAYING, the moment you want rid of them, they seem to clutter your PC, and no matter how you try, you cant get it off, i was warned of this a couple of years ago, i'll go with the free antivirus packages, such as AVG, Panda, and there's a few more, i happen to have AVG, had it now for about 2 and a half years, and i have never had any problems with it, my mate has Panda, and he swears by them,i cant say much more than that.
Good luck to you in your quest, if i were you, i would get both of them off, then try rebooting.

I was told about NOD32 it's an antivirus used by the guru's, people who write the Norton and Mcafee shite. eConceal Firewall Pro and BPS Spyware remover. Was in same position as you but since installing the above progs, hey presto! Back to normal. Can send you cracks to overcome software time expiration settings if you require.

Did you uninstall Nortons? You never said if you did, you just said it ran out. Two antivirus programs cannot exist on the same computer without a huge conflict of programs which would slow a computer down to a snails pace.

you might want to look and see what kind of stuff is running on McAfee, like if there is alot of stuff running in the background. also, when you first install a antivirus, it runs through your files first to check for virus's. This is what it might be doing. I would give it some time and try a reboot. That should solve the problem.

I think your Norton clashes with Mcafee. You need to completely uninstall one of those programs.

It looks such as you have a secret agent ware or an endemic on your laptop. Run a test with an antivirus and then run a seperate secret agent ware application. i prefer to advise utilising xoftspy. you are able to acquire it on the cyber web for a fee, even with the undeniable fact that it rather is a huge application.
