i did it for many years when i was younger. tags are meant to be qwik and small.
tag is your name, a peice is a mural or similar design, a thrown up is to do a huge design but qwikly. a hang is to hold onto the doors of a moving train while painting the outside.
you dont design a tag you improve on it, its just a name. a tag is advertising so other artists know where you have been. its good to put them in wierd or hard to get places.
I stopped when i turned 19. im 32 now and still see some old cars (train carriages) i did and old tags from way back.

You tag how long you want to tag. Some tag to show what gang lives around, to show creativity or just for fun. It matters on what your drawing for the certain time. You should tag at night or close to the sunset. Yes you design your own tags, because it is to show your creative side.

my friend is a professional graffiti artist we are both at uni studying art and design he just doodle them out all his own and then usually buys something to tag on or hires a place.. Some funky stores get him to do certian things in their shops. It takes him a few hours but all depends on the size. He know a lot of kids who do just damage property mainly because they are bored.. he once did but now we are art uni studying it he appericates art a lot more.

there's a huge distinction between taggers and graffitti artists. Taggers are referred to as taggers because of fact they tag their turf with their gang's symbols. they are on no account inventive. the actual graffitti artists are lots greater state-of-the-artwork in kind and convey fantastically colored works of city artwork.
