The middle class is the majority of americans...republicans seem to favor the upper class (with their tax breaks) and the democrats seem to favor the lower class (with their social programs) and the middle class bears the brunt for both. Is there a party that represents the middle class? Would you vote for them? Are you a member of the middle class?

I DON"T GET ENOUGH HUGS FROM DADDY? Guess what, you have to read the details sweetheart, and have a grasp on the subject material...the middle class doesn't take advantage of social programs...they fund them. Just like they fund the republicans tax breaks for the rich. When you pay taxes some day, you'll understand. But don't hurry...stay in school as LONG as possible.

Nope there isn't one. I'm solid middle class and I need the tax breaks (that I did get), but I also need universal healthcare (or at least a cheaper deductible). Of course, these two things aren't necessarily compatible are they? Not unless we cut funding to bridges that go nowhere.

It seems that way! Depends on what one means by middle class, though. Many people define middle class as "everyone making less than I am, or as much as I am, up to those making a dollar more."
Typical welfare programs (AFDC, food stamps, etc.) are a very small percentage of the budget, I think. The biggest items are defense, interest on debt, Social Security, Medicare (I don't know the order). I'm not sure where Medicaid (for poor, as opposed to elderly) fits in.
Groups with money, or who are well organized, have Washington's ear. I can't think of any organized group of middle-class taxpaying families that has a significant voice, as opposed to the NRA, AARP, corporate and labor groups, etc. They're all too busy working at their jobs!
I don't have enough info. Where's the money coming from? Where's it going? But I gave it a try. I DO attempt to be as rational as possible when answering, but I do slip up here and there . . .

The answer is no party represents, us, the middle class. Even if there was such a party the media would never support it. The media is the key to winning elections because they only present one side of the story. We the people just choose which side we listen too but they are as biased as the day is long. Such a party would also have to battle the monetary aspect of big business and don't be fooled the Dems get just as much money from big business as the Reps do and they will support the big businesses before doing their job which is representing their constituents.

Best the middle class gets is the Democrats, and they ain't much anymore. I wonder if this actual lack of representation has caused a malaise, an apathy -- the result is the rise in power of reactionaries, special interests ($), fundamentalists, neocons. The middle class mills around kicking the tires -- whether it be war, torture, or internet gambling.

The middle class don't support canidates campaigns as well as rich, special interest lobbists do, therefore there is no party that represents the Middle Class.
Dems say they do, yet the want to place the burdon of the taxes on middle class, while Repubs do as well.

The REPUBLICAN party represents the middle class. The Democrats are all for the working class paying their way with too many social programs. People should not have to depend on the Government for their daily care. Republicans understand personal responsibility.

All politicians represent the upper class because they are the ones who finance their elections. The party platforms are toilet paper. People who owe their stature to someone's $ will always represent them first and everyone else second...

You are correct, but at least with the repubs we get better tax breaks than dems. To dems everyone should pay through the nose except welfare recipients.
