Some people measure success by money and material things. I think you are successful in life when you can honestly say "I am happy".

Not exactly. When we had a break up or at the verge of break up, we use to think so. But, after some years, we would change our opinion that love is just not everything in life.But, whatever it is, the lost love will always be there in heart, atleast in some deep corner, till our last breath. But that doesn't mean that we din't have a successful life, may be a kind of flaw in life. Umm, but life without the one we love the most is meaningless know..? :-(

The meaning of successful life in my opinion would be at the time I can reflect upon my life and think to myself "not bad... not bad at all."
When I think that I have not given up on things I've wanted but fought to get them.
I have raised my children into upstanding citizens in our community.
I have found love and been loved.
I have put myself through college and have a career as a professional.
Success is when I can look in the mirror and be proud of the person staring back at me.

If someone would ask me at the end of the "life" , as they say , at the St.Peter`s gate I would be able to say something. But when we are passing throough the life , we can only say.. at this point of time in life what successful life means to me.
it is like looking at the mirror. We have been looking at ourselves for as long as we have been. to the others we might have looked , young , youth, old .. whatever. But , to us, we looked the same . as nice as I was , whae a child , when a man...
so is life. fine with some ups and downs.
To me , personally , . recognition in my personal life, career and among the friends mean alot and that is my barometer for success in journey through life."How many lives did I touch " That is it.

I think this is an extremely tough question to answer. I don't think there is many people who can answer it if they tried to give a thoughtful, honest answer.
Success to me is a combination of a few things...
1. Having the means to make the choices in life that I would like to.
2. Achieving the majority of my life goals.
3. Having a full and contentful life.
