I just started a part-time job at a local department store about 3 weeks ago. My husband just got offered a better job opportunity that would mean relocating and so I would have to quit my job. I'm not sure how to go about doing it. I feel awful leaving after a few weeks, when I intended on staying there quite a while. What is the protocal? Should I still give 2 weeks notice while I'm in the probationary period?

Simply go to your manager and explain the situation. LIfe happens...it's not like you are going to a competitor across the street. Letting your boss know early, allows them the ability to find a repalcement. Don't feel guilty.

You can put in 2 weeks notice but also explain to the manager that your husband's gotten a better job meaning you're relocating. It happens and it's not your fault or your husband's fault. Just one of those things that life dishes out.... you know the old saying "when one door closes another one opens"...so think of it as an open door and don't feel bad.
Good luck!

I would just explain what happened to your boss and tell them that you are sorry. Tell him/her that you had no idea that your husband was going to get this new job. You could ask the boss if they would like you to work 2 more weeks or should you just leave now. That's about all you can do. Don't worry about it too much and good luck with your upcoming move.

you have a very good reason to quit your job, need to relocate. you are a part ime employee you do not really need to give 2 weeks notice. If you like then it will be fine too

specific, it quite is a job, no longer a occupation... in case you want the money interior the intervening time then take the Micky d's pastime and then chop up once you get the different, greater favored pastime. in simple terms dont tell McDonalds what you're making plans on doing.

Just tell your boss what happened. Life happenes to different people at different times. Just tell your boss when you will be moving at your new home. Maybe there is the same dept. store at your new city. If there is ,ask if you can work there instead. Good Luck.

Short and sweet say:

My husband was offered a job in another city, and unfortunately, I have to resign.

Give your 2 weeks if you can, and explain what has happened. Be honest and direct and you'll be fine. These things happen.
