Probably not. It's truly sad America has the capabilty to become energy Independent if we simply stepped up to the task. America has enough coal that if it was to be converted into oil it would amount to more oil than in the entire Middle east. This capabilty has been around since WW2. Pennsylvania is in the process of putting online the first type of plant to do this in the USA. We also has Vast access to Hydro, Wind and Nuclear power. Hopefully someday we can pull it off.

Well granted terrorists will find funding no matter what, if we stopped buying from our arab friends then we would pretty much dry up their funding.
I think we should buy more from our southern nieghbors... Like Mexico, and whatever other country down there produces oil.
I think we need to work on alternet (?) fuels but, it's not a big issue, simple becuse, as somone once said, nessity(?) is the mother of invention, or somthing like that. When the need comes, we will figure somthing out. fast believe me...

You forget that the rich Muslims have invested their oil profits heavily into the oil refining and distribution system. They would own the biomass industry also. What would change. Where do you think the money to fund the muclear protestors and people that want to tear down the dams comecs from.

If over the next 30 years (it would take at least that long) to phase out gasoline powered cars. Then possibly longer for China, it might work. Though these people who are funding terrorism could go into another business.

Terrorists can pollute biomass with chemicals. Increased solar energy use is the only hope.

Those methods cannot currently provide enough fuel for the world (not even for the US)
We should work at developing all technologies for fuel. It's just good sense.

No, they still receive funding through other sources. Black Market enterprises, and even legal entities that sympathize with their cause. Like all of those Hollywood liberals that donate money to Osama, you know who I'm talking about, like George Clooney, Sharon Stone, Bette Midler, Tony Danza etc..(Joking people) except for the black market and legal enterprise sympathizers

Lessen but not stop it. There are many businesses and individuals in other countries (including yours) who maintain a steady supply of cash to them. Of course doing things one step at a time will be the only way out of this mess.
