Study of words is Morphology.
Study of languages is Linguistics.

Omg, most of the answers are just incorrect. Etymology is the study of history of words, their origins, etc. But morphology studies focus on the words themselves, how they're constructed, how morphemes come together to make up words, in other words it's the study of word formation.
