I'm 18yrs., I'm a freshmen at UIC, I have a good job, my own 2bedroom apt. , and I have a 4yr. old little girl whom I live for. I'm am a Beliezian male but you would only know if I told you. In other words I look as if I'm black. I dress in baggy clothes, jordans, 2earrings, a due rag, braids and I wear hats. My hats are always to the left because.... Well thats just my style. Anyway, theres a gas station near my school, owned by a white family. I always buy gas there and mabey a few snacks. One day I really had to use the restroom. So insted of peeing on the side of the gas station, I asked to use the restroom. They to me it was out of order. I didn't believe them so I asked a colse friend (white male) to ask the same question while I hide. Would you believe me if I told you the restroom was ''all of a sudden'' BACK IN ORDER??!!

Some white people are still racist because of their stupidity. But hey, some black people are still racist as well. (Especially elders). I guess it's just something we have to deal with.

Look man, racism is a part of the uneducated and a product of bad raising. I see it all the time. It still iritates the hell out of me. However, you may be a good guy and all but maybe your appearance with all your 'style' might raise a red flag of a person who may conduct vandalism. Appearance says a lot in this world. That is just a fact. Your are not the person cleaning the smeared crap off the wall and piss off the floor when a person vandalises that bathroom. I know it sounds shameful, but maybe the owners have noticed a certain look of people preforming these cruel actions in there bathroom and have decided to have a strong bias towards letting certain people in the restroom. When I get told the bathroom is out of order I will usually say, "Hey man, look, I am a clean guy and I will leave your room clean. I jsut have to use the bathroom." Nine out of ten, they say okay and let me use the facilities. If they don't, I just piss on the side of the building. Seeing as how you are an adult now and are trying to raise your daughter that you 'live' for, than maybe you should set a good example for her and start to act like an adult and not a rap star. no offense, but I now have two children of my own and did the same thing. Think about how your child views her dad.

Although the focus seems to be more on white racists hating blacks, they do not have exclusive rights to this social disease. Every race and ethnicity has their share of bigots and racists. I'm an Italian-American and have witnessed decades of prejudice against Italians. Not a day goes by that I don't hear some idiot heckle me with something they think is funny, but I think is offensive. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I hear, "How YOU doin." Or, "Foget-about-it." Or jokes about me being in the Mafia.

Don't fret. Unless you find a way to leave the planet Earth, it's unlikely that you'll find a safe harbor devoid of racism. Take care of your little girl and ignore the ignorant. Next time you need to pee, do indeed pee on the side of the gas station!

Wow-those things do still happen. I hope that I'm not a racist. I am Caucasian, and I have friends of all races. It is my opinion that we are all the same. Seeing the variety in people is a beautiful thing. If we were all cookie cutter white, blond and blue eyed, what a boring place it would be. I like the quote from Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, when the little girl asked Morgan Freeman if God painted him and he says, "Did God paint me? No, little one, Allah loves endless variety." In my personal opinion, if there is a place that is just as close to you where you can get gas and your snacks, I'd just stop going there. I'd find a time when it was quiet and not a lot of customers and ask for the manager and explain what happened and why you are taking your business elsewhere. But you must do it in a quiet and calm manner in order to be taken seriously. You cannot become angry or escalate, or you lose your position of power. Kudos to you for all you have accomplished in such a short time! I wish you success in your endeavors and with your little girl!

I am not racist and I do not know many white people who are. At least not openly. I do however treat everyone differently based on first impressions...One male Indian dressed nice, clean and gives a very good first impression overall is more likely to get a date than A black guy although he may be clean the baggy clothes, due rag, gold teeth...whatever definately take away the appeal..I was raised to be respected as a woman and I know many black men and very few of them actually respect women. These certain black men have not been raised with these values and when they are in public they are loud and make a scene where ever they go, I'm not sure why but they do. How do you think that makes people feel about their race? I know I know it is ignorant of them to think ALL black people are like this but it is first impressions.

I work in a retail chain and every few weeks we have a bus that comes and drops Jamacans off at the store..although I have not met them all I avoid all of them. they are loud, pushy and rude to everyone in the store including other customers and then cry rasicm because they have to wait in line like everyone else. I have been offered by at least 4 of them to go back to their country and marry their sons..I do not know if it is their culture, upbringing or lack of manners on their own part but you do not treat anyone like this. Even though I have only met probably 6-7 of them I avoid them all and assume they are all disrespectful and vulgar. I do not have a problem with their skin or the way they dress...these men are clean and look very well kept, but that does not shadow their lack of respect for others especially myself. At this point in time I think a lot of "racism" is brought on by their belief that they are being discriminated against...not because they actually are, and if they are it isn't because they are black, indian...it is because of the impression they give.

It isn't just white people who are that way. My son is engaged to Ashley and she is black and peurto rican. They had my first grandbaby in July and she is the light of my life. I have noticed when we go places the looks they get come mainly from black people. I have heard comments as we walk by and I wonder why white people are always harped on about being racist. I have NEVER looked at the color of someones skin to decide how I feel about them. I love Ashley as if she was mine. I do not understand the big deal about what or who someone is. If someone has respect for me and who I am I will give the same back. You are never going to change the whole world and what they think. The only thing WE can do is try to change the world one person at a time. If WE can do that then one of these days our grandchildren will wake up in a world where they can be themselves in without being judged by the color of their skin.

No, I am not racist. I despise all races equally!!! All kidding aside, I try my hardest not to judge people on first impressions. The media and society have driven into our heads what a "bad" person looks like. I find this very disturbing. I personally know a hispanic guy that is covered in tatoos. I had the opportunity to work with him for a long time. He is one the sweetest, kindest guys I ever met. He used to be involved in heavy gang activity and served some time for it. But he learned his lesson and is changing his life around now. Give people a chance. You never know when that "bad" person might just step in and save the day. I am sorry you had to go through that. Keep your head up and know that what kind of person you are and be proud.

You are judged, by your look. Presentation is everything! We humans are visual beings. Baggy pants "doo rags" Jordans
2 earrings, braids and "hats worn to the left," SPEAK LOUDLY, GHETTO THUGS, "I'm gonna get robbed, beaten or killed."

I do NOT approve of your look, if you were my son, you would not be dressed like that. When I see someone, like you walk where I am walking, I IMMEDIATELY cross the street, because I fear for my life.

Dude, get real, dress appropriately, if you want to be accepted, in society. You portray a negative image, a stereotype, in the eyes of society.

I don't them for not letting you use the restroom, they probably thought you were doing drugs. If you want to be accepted in society, it "cannot be about your style." Fit in or spend the rest of your life be looked at as "a bad dude" and not allowed to go to the restroom.

You are in college, have a good job and your own apartment. Your family is proud of your accomplishments. Don't let them down. Fit it, don't complain. It won't hurt you to be a part of society. Don't throw around the word "racist." They are probably not racist, just protective of their property. Please buy some "appropriate clothes."

Thats really F****** up! I would be pretty pissed too. U really cannot do much about it cause some people are just that way. There are black racists against whites, whites against blacks, spanish against white and black and so on. Thats just there lifestyle and there opinion,u just have to learn to ignore the ignorance. I am white but have dealt with a few people of other races that hated on me because I have grown up to only date people outside of my race..usually black, people have called me derogatory names, called me cracker TONS of times, given filthy looks and so on. I have just learned to laugh it off and let it ride. Those type of people have nothing better to do with there time in my opinion. So, just keep doin your thing and next time someone does some kind of shi* like that to u again take them to the judge mathis show and suck them up for all the money they got..Its called discriminating and its against the law in buinesses. do your thing and keep ur head up!

People in general are always going to be racist. I can be proud to say I'm not. My family is Italian and proud of it and claim to NOT be racist but i see it differently. my grandfather who was in the south when they had white and black rest rooms and always told me a story of how he stepped off the sidewalk to let a black lady walk by and the other whites in the south told him he could get shot from that, he didn't understand because he is from the north. but anyway i asked him one day would he care who i married? and i got the answer as long as your happy and hes not black. i don't understand that but to me that's racist. he has friends that are black and he loves them dearly but he just doesn't want me marrying one. So to answer your question there are always going to be racist people whether there white black Asian or purple
